SHELTER VS BREEDER VS PET STORE:
SHELTER:  Animal Shelter’s as noble as it may be is not always an option and doesn’t make you a bad person. If you want a specific breed of puppy, and animal shelter or rescue may not have what you want and if they do, you don’t know what type of breeder the dog came from and bad breeders can equate to health problems in the future.
BREEDER: When it comes to breeders, they run the gambit. There are the hard-core, dedicated breeders who want to better the breed of the dog, hobby breeders who breed without a lot of knowledge about breeding, but take care of their dogs. Then there are the scum of the scum, low of the low. They could care less about the dogs they breed, they might produce puppies with health issues and emotional impairments. They might not really breed puppies at all, but import them from other countries to pretend they are the producers of the puppies. They might even say they have mom and dad on premises who infact are not even the parents of the imported puppies.
PET STORES: Pet stores have gotten a bad rap ove the years, by animal activists or the humane society of america who accuse them of buying from puppy mills. There are exceptions. If you have small locally-owned pet store in your area they may buy thier puppies from hobby breeders, or have visited specific breeders they have been working with. They usually provide free vet care, health guarantees and usually have many happy customers. Be sure you look into complaints against the pet store to see if their are any.  Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if they are a member, their rating and any complaints against them. If you find a puppy in a pet store make sure you are happy with the way the employees treat the animals, their setting is comfortable and that they are happy and bouncy. If this is the case buying from them is not the cardinal sin of buying a puppy.
